A few days ago, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and stumbled upon an article from the BBC. It was titled “Meet the Dogs Who Saved Humans From Danger.” It amazes me every time and I am proud I became a dog.
Dogs have always been considered for their loyalty and intelligence. They are a precious asset for anyone who does not want to be alone. The dog is a family member and a friend, even in many cases, a better friend than a man. Dogs help us in numerous ways: they allow the blind to orient and travel in a wheelchair, rescue people from avalanches or earthquakes if necessary, protect the home from intruders and burglars, handle guard duties, and more. Dogs are a real treasure for their guardians. I started to think of all the other dogs in this world-saving lives without getting credit for it. So, I decided to research a few heroes of the world and put them together here in this article.
The Hero of Changsha City – China
The Hero of Changsha City was a 10-year-old dog who saved his owner from being hit by a car rushing toward the couple while they were walking home from work on June 1st, 2012. While the couple was heading home, they were hit by a car and thrown onto the pavement. The driver sped off, leaving them there. It could have turned out differently if it wasn’t for the dog, who ran after the car and chased it down.
The Dog of Pavlov – Australia
In December 2013, Craig Lapsley was asleep when he awoke to see his dog Pavlov barking at him outside his room. He looked around and realised the smoke was coming from near the back door, so he ran into action. Pavlov was an Australian Shepherd mix who bravely rushed into flames to rescue his owner from a fire in South Australia. Unfortunately, his actions didn’t quite go as planned. He ran towards the front of his house and, in doing so, ran directly into the path of an oncoming fire truck that firefighter Trent Severn was driving. Pavlov was struck by the firetruck and died on impact.
The Hero of Reims – France
Two little dogs saved their owner from a burning car at a gas station in Reims, France, in February 2007. Solino, a 7-month-old English Bulldog, and Niro, a 9-month-old French Bulldog, were taking out the trash when they suddenly noticed flames coming from inside the car outside their standing. They took action and ran inside the store, where they found their owner, Sophie Carcenac, trapped in her car. They alerted her to the problem and then barked at her until she woke up. She could get out of the vehicle before it exploded and caught on fire.
The Hero of Dallas – United States of America
At midnight May 22nd, 2014, a dog named Monkey Baa woke up her owners after she jumped on their bed and started barking. She was trying to tell them something was wrong with her family’s cars outside in the driveway. Dallas is a city that’s just located about 20 minutes from where I live, so it only makes sense to include them here. Her human mom and dad grabbed some clothes and made their way outside, where they found smoke pouring out of the cars.
So, there we have it. Dogs are excellent, and they are heroes too. They save us from many things in this world, and I would like to thank them for all they do for us. Do you have any dog hero stories? Let us know at www.mrnmrspet.com.
