Rejected for being unfit to be petted; Rescued dogs Zorro, Muttley, and Boo fill a home with joy!

"You get an unlimited lifelong supply of unconditional love and affection by making them a part of your family."

Homemaker Gayatri Madhavan relocated to Goa from Bombay in 2008 with the hope of one day living in a household with at least four or five dogs. She currently has three gorgeous dogs living in her home. Muttley the Labrador was rescued from Cuffe Parade, Boo was rescued by Gayatri when she found her at five months old outside a restaurant, and Zorro the Rottweiler came to them through their veterinarian since his previous owner couldn't handle him.

"When we were kids, my husband and I both had pets." Since the couple could not afford to provide a home for every dog in need, they made an effort to choose the dogs with the lowest likelihood of doing so. The three dogs were all adopted on the spur of the moment, either after witnessing the dog's anguish or hearing about it.

They adopted a male Rottweiler named Zorro when he was nine months old. Her veterinarian just so happened to inform them that a wonderful six-month-old boy needed a home because his 80-year-old owner could no longer care for him. They didn't think there would be room for another pet then because they already had two dogs and a toddler. When they asked their friends if they would be interested in adopting an adult male Rottweiler with one undescended testicle, none said they would.

Two weeks later, her veterinarian phoned her once more and asked if they to meet Zorro, who had already undergone castration by that point. The couple made the decision right away that they would return home. His chances of finding a home were further diminished when they discovered that he was nine months old and not six when they first met him. He had a choke chain with spikes on the inside, portions of his tongue were missing, and he had a broken tail in addition to having eaten up his sutures from the abdominal surgical wound.

They were sure they had no room for any other dogs after Zorro, but then Zorro's orthopaedic physician in Mumbai mentioned to them a five-month-old fawn Labrador who had been discovered tied up on the street in Cuffe Parade. He had been saved by PFA and had been to a few homes in Mumbai, but because he was such an active puppy and liked to chew everything, he was usually sent back. After hearing his tale, her daughter decided he would be her new little brother. Muttley came to them in this way.

Her youngest dog, Boo, a German Shepherd-cross, was discovered one evening after they had gone out to dinner. Coincidentally, when she left the restaurant for some fresh air, she heard a whimper. She observed a cute small creature trying to cling to a wall for cover. The pup appeared hungry and had to be around five months old. She sat down and called to her; a moment later, she was sitting on her lap. She went home with them because Gayatri couldn't bring herself to leave her there.
