Dog Teeth Cleaning and Dental Care

Dog tooth cleaning is as important as other health aspects in the dog. As dogs are not prone to cavities, it becomes easier and does not have to be cleaned on a daily basis. It is proved in many theories that a dog’s mouth and teeth would be cleaner than humans, but they do develop some problems, if it is left unattended for a longer period of time. You can actually notice yellow patches on the teeth, if you have not cleaned your dog for a very long time. There is nothing to worry about, as most of the dogs do not give a complicated time while cleaning teeth.

Some of the useful tips and procedures to clean your dog’s teeth in a proper way and to keep your dog’s dental life healthy and hygienic.

1. Brush Your Dog’s Teeth in a Proper Way

Brushing your dog’s teeth is not as challenging as giving baths, since most of the dogs cooperate and enjoy getting its canine cleaned. There are plenty of options in canine brushes available online and in pet pharmacies. Ensure to take a proper canine toothbrush, as most of the breeds are different from regular dog breeds. Always prefer to buy a double headed brush, which can bend up to 45 degrees, as you will need to brush your dog’s gums comfortably and carefully.

2. Try to Brush Often

It is important to brush your canine often, as your dog needs to get used to the practice. Start brushing your dog from the early age, since most of the dogs do not cooperate easily in the grown up or in adult age. If you are trying to brush for the first time, take it up slowly and keep your dog’s favorite food as a treat or an award for the cooperation.

3. Pick The Right Toothpaste for Your Dog

Do not use human toothpaste, as it contains fluoride, which is not considered as a safe chemical for your dog. You can find a canine toothpaste or consult a veterinary doctor to decide on the right toothpaste, as some dogs would need a special ingredient for their lifestyle.  Most of the dog toothpaste acts as an anti-ineffective agent, which cures minor injuries and takes away all the foreign particles in the mouth to keep it healthy.

4. Chew Bones and Toys

There are a lot of chew bones and toys available in the market, which helps your dog to chew all the time and improve its dental health automatically. Just like chewing gums improve human being’s dental health, some of the chew bones and toys help your dog to clean its teeth and strengthen gums partially.

5. Consult a Veterinary Doctor on a Regular Basis

It is important to know your dog’s behavior in terms of chewing activity. You may not be able to figure out a bad dental health condition in dogs, as they tend to adjust and get used to the new way of chewing things. It is important to check for any behavioral changes like bad breath, chewing habits, depression or excessive drooling, as they could be the signs of dog having a discomfort in its mouth.

Conclusion

Dental health plays a major role, as they can cause a major discomfort and lead to a severe pain. Brushing your dog’s teeth may take 30 minutes of time and it is very much recommended to conduct the exercise at least once in 15 days.
